Kevin and Joseph have been working in the same pharmaceutical company over the past years. With the recent pandemic and home-based work setups, they’ve struggled to manage their health while staying connected with teammates. Here, they share how the 7-Day Lung Detox Challenge improved their wellbeing and work environment.
Kevin: I learned that pacing myself was the key to growth and recovery.
I’ve been working from home since the start of the pandemic. As it’s become a permanent setup, I’ve found it challenging to physically and emotionally manage my health. It has also been challenging to stay in touch with coworkers as we mostly interact online.
I can’t go out of the house as often as I used to or even visit the gym without having to book a reservation in advance or follow new safety protocols. With these in mind, I had to explore my options. While working in a pharmaceutical company has given me insight into health and wellness, I researched and discovered the 7-Day Lung Detox Challenge. It’s an exciting challenge that focuses on lung health, essential to everyone whether you lead a sedentary lifestyle or have respiratory issues.
My daily routine starts with a light breakfast at home and a short walk around the neighborhood. Before this challenge, I would feel sluggish while organizing documents or accomplishing regular work tasks in the middle of the day. But when I started this challenge, my overall health gradually improved. I shared this challenge with my coworkers, and it has helped us connect during these times. We exchanged tea preferences and routines, seeing which ones worked best for our needs. The herbs for our tea were always easy to find, and I found it relaxing to start and end my day with a breathing exercise.
I’ve been focused on respiratory marketing in our company and support our country’s lung health association. Some of my patients have lung health and conditions, and my grandparents passed away due to lung cancer. Throughout these experiences, I learned more about lung health and continued to share the best practices and habits with my peers. These times also made me realize how vital their organization’s role is in our community.
My team has enjoyed this challenge, and I’m excited to see more people try it out!
Joseph: I was able to help my loved ones with lung health problems throughthis challenge.
I’m not an avid tea drinker, but the 7-Day Lung Detox Challenge allowed me to rediscover tea and its health benefits. Herbal teas are not hard to come by. I quickly found these at the local supermarket at great prices! Some teas could relieve stress, boost the immune system, and have many other health benefits. The breathing exercises were quite helpful, too. Whenever I felt stressed about work or anxious, I paused to take deep breaths and focus on a blank space.
I incorporated this challenge into my routine and shared it with my family. It helped my older brother and father as they were born with respiratory conditions. My mother enjoyed brewing tea with us, too. She even decided to plant some of the herbs in our backyard. We bonded over this challenge and turned some parts of it into healthy habits.
Even my work in the pharmaceutical industry involves respiratory marketing. With my personal and professional experiences, I gained more insight into lung health and found fun challenges like this. My coworkers heard about this challenge and discussed our next plans to add a twist to it.
