I’ve had a “special” relationship with my lungs since I was a little kid. As a child, my mum would always remind me to be careful with sports and other physical activities. She’d always make sure to pack my bag with extra clothes, drinking water, and my asthma inhaler ( I never leave home without it!).
My parents were very concerned with my asthma that you’d see them dust, sweep, mop, or vacuum our house at least once a day. My parents were really strict about dust and other pollutants to the point that we weren’t allowed to have pets at home! Looking back, I would say the things they did were a little over the top. But I’d stay forever grateful.
I got so used to the symptoms of Asthma that difficulty in breathing became my “normal”. It would actually feel weird if a week has gone by without experiencing an attack . However in my mid 50’s breathing became a little bit harder than usual, so I scheduled a checkup with my GP. She ran a couple of tests and told me to wait 48-72 hours. 2 days later, we had a call and she told me that I had Bronchiectasis.
Living with both Asthma and Bronchiectasis was really tough. Simple day-to-day tasks like washing dishes or climbing a flight of stairs felt like a short workout. The constant chest pain and coughing was uncomfortable, not to mention it kept me up most nights. Days when I had 5-6 hours of uninterrupted sleep were the “good” nights. There were times when I felt really down, thinking how I could survive the remainder of my life with this miserable comorbidity.
One day, my best friend Janet asked me to join a COPD Facebook group. Shortly after I joined, I saw someone post about the 21-Day Pulmonary Rehab Programme, I checked it out and was immediately interested. Throughout my life, I wasn’t really keen on trying complex medical procedures or surgery to feel better, which is why I thought this digital lung therapy programme was amazing!
I emailed their team and was quickly connected to one of their account managers, Kelly. She was very patient and answered all my questions about the programme, questions like “Is this fine for people with Asthma/Bronchiectasis?” or “What if I’m not super physically active, can I still do the exercises here?”.
One thing that makes the 21-Day Pulmonary Rehab Programme such a valuable treatment option is the fact that it can be applied anytime and anywhere as long as the steps are learnt and understood. It is completely safe, surprisingly effective, and simple enough for anyone to learn quickly and is a great technique for COPD, anxiety, emphysema, bronchitis, inflammation and respiratory allergies treatment toolkits.
I have benefitted so much since I started this digital programme. Physically, I have been breathing better, have less phlegm build-up, and overall better lung function. Emotionally, my confidence and mental toughness has strengthened with the help of other members in the community. The support group is really amazing! So I highly recommend it to others who have chronic lung diseases like me.
